Haile G-Selassie received honorary doctorate from Addis Ababa University

(ENA)Addis Ababa University (AAU) awarded honorary doctorate degree to legendary Ethiopian World Class Athlete, Major Haile Gebresselassie at glorious graduation ceremony of class of 2010 held here at the millennium hall.

As AAU president Prof. Andrias Eshete read out why athlete Haile to be honored Major Haile is an inspiration to African youth, convincing them that it is possible to rise above one’s circumstances, however extreme; to take the lead among the best anywhere.

It was noted on the occasion that athlete Haile had received honorary doctorate degree from a foreign university. He has also gained honorary citizenship from the Government of Royal Netherlands.

An avenue named after him here in the capital of Africans to honor his shining achievements.

After receiving his honorary degree athlete Haile said Ethiopia’s number one enemy is poverty and need to be defeated. “ We are equipped with weapon to chase poverty , everything is possible.” he said.

He said the honor he received from the renowned AAU will make him more responsible and is an assignment to him. (Video)
