Ethiopian shoe documentary

Do you live in Ethiopia or have you visited the country recently and have a story about shoes? Then three young people from Holland want to hear it. Director Joost van der Wiel, journalist Luc van Kemenade and photographer Daphne Kuilman are working on a documentary film project called

“One Size Fits All” focussing on the residents of Addis Ababa and their footwear. Through a series of portraits it hopes to challenge the received idea of Ethiopia as a place of poverty and famine in desperate need of western aid by revealing individual characters’ problems and ambitions and giving them a face. Shooting is due to start in September but before then the crew is inviting submissions of photographs and stories that will help shape the film.
